The TXC Foundation, in partnership with This Week in Louisiana Agriculture (TWILA), is offering four students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in journalism, media production, and storytelling while covering the 2027 TXC Memorial.
Designed for students interested in journalism, broadcasting, videography, photography, social media, agriculture, rodeo, or the western industry, this internship combines professional instruction with real-world experience at one of the region’s premier western sporting events.
Selected interns will participate in a one-day, in-studio learning experience with the TWILA production team in Baton Rouge Monday December 21, 2026. Students will learn from professional agricultural journalists and media producers while being introduced to skills such as storytelling, interviewing, camera operation, capturing B-roll, on-camera reporting, production, editing, social media content creation, and professional journalism practices.
Interns will then put those skills to work during the TXC Memorial, January 8–10, 2027, where they may interview contestants, capture competition and behind-the-scenes footage, identify compelling stories, and develop original content highlighting the people, traditions, and impact of the western industry.
Each intern will work toward a completed piece of content that can be published by TXC and included in the student’s own portfolio. Best of all, there is no fee to participate in this program!
Applicants must:
Both TXC Memorial competitors and non-competitors are encouraged to apply.
TXC will provide event access necessary to complete assigned coverage, assistance coordinating interviews and story subjects, meals during assigned coverage days, and SD cards for students using compatible cameras. Students will also receive credit and recognition for completed work published through TXC's social media channels.
Only four internship positions are available.
Applications are NOW OPEN and must be submitted by December 1, 2026. Applicants should be prepared to tell us about their interests and why they would like to participate in the program. You will also be asked to include a brief 30-second video storytelling submission. The 30-second video submission is not expected to be professionally produced and can be on any topic that interests the applicant.
