The TXC Memorial Scholarship Fund

Established in 2000

Terry Cox had a passion for shaping the lives of young people through the sport of rodeo. Whether he was offering help in the arena or lending a hand in his community, Terry lived with a quiet, unwavering commitment to serving others. In 1999, he tragically lost his life while protecting the people of Cameron Parish as a sheriff’s deputy—but the impact of his generosity continues to ripple outward.

To honor his memory and carry forward the values he lived by, the Cox Family established the TXC Foundation. The Foundation has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to student rodeo athletes while recognizing student athletes who give back to those around them—opening doors, easing financial burdens, and helping young competitors chase both their education and their dreams. This work is only possible because of the continued support of donors who believe in Terry’s legacy and the future of the western community.

Our Mission

The TXC Foundation empowers young rodeo athletes—encouraging them to pursue higher education, serve their communities, and carry forward the values that define the western way of life.

We honor the legacy Terry Cox lived every day by supporting students who embody his core principles of Education, Western Heritage, and Citizenship, ensuring those values continue to guide the next generation.
